At Novosibirsk CHPP-3, old equipment has begun to be dismantled for the installation of a new boiler unit, which will increase the station's thermal capacity by 20%. Site preparation will require dismantling more than 500 tons of metal structures. The new boiler, with a capacity of 320 tons of steam per hour, is planned to be installed by December 2029.

Currently, specialists are removing insulation from the gas ducts that divert flue gases to the chimney. At this stage, 19 insulators are involved. After the preparatory work is completed, the power engineers will proceed with the dismantling of the inoperative boiler equipment.
At the station, where eight boilers with a total thermal capacity of 945 Gcal/h originally operated, boiler unit No. 15 will appear. After modernization, the indicator should reach 1137 Gcal/h — an increase of 192 Gcal/h. This will allow connecting new consumers and increasing the reliability of heat supply.

The project, costing almost 30 billion rubles, includes not only the installation of a boiler, but also the installation of a modern electrostatic precipitator, the replacement of the main steam pipeline, and the automation of equipment control.
Dismantling, installation, and commissioning will be carried out by SibirEnergoMontazh, with UralTEP acting as the general designer. The manufacturer and supplier of the boiler and electrostatic precipitator are yet to be selected.
The modernization is being carried out under the federal program KOMMod-2029, which stimulates the renewal of thermal power plants. The commissioning of the new boiler will be the first instance of new heat-generating capacity construction in Novosibirsk during the post-Soviet period.
