The use of artificial intelligence (AI) in schools should be banned due to the risk of cognitive decline in students. This opinion was expressed by 17% of teachers who participated in a survey conducted by the V.S. Lednev Institute of Content and Teaching Methods (part of the FGBU "Russian Academy of Education").

Neural networks are regularly used by 20% of educators, 37% — sometimes, another 22% of respondents wanted to try AI capabilities, and 7% categorically refused these technologies.

The study notes that almost half of teachers consider AI responses unreliable. 51% of respondents fear that neural networks can harm a child's cognitive abilities. This refers to the deterioration of attention, memory, perception, thinking, language, imagination, and spatial orientation.

Overall, teachers have a positive attitude towards AI technologies (61%). The main advantage of neural networks is considered to be the ability to quickly perform various tasks and save time (63%).

The survey was conducted in August 2026. More than 900 teachers of grades 1-11 from urban and rural schools participated in it.

Earlier, Gennady Onishchenko, Deputy President of the FGBU "Russian Academy of Education," stated that students who complete homework assignments with the help of AI do not assimilate educational material. In his opinion, passive consumption of information does not help brain development.
