Онищенко: человек, управляющий ИИ, сможет стать угрозой биобезопасности

Academician is sure that the danger comes from people using technology

Artificial intelligence (AI) itself does not pose a threat to humanity, especially in the field of biosecurity. This was stated by epidemiologist and academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Gennady Onishchenko. In his opinion, the danger lies in the people who control AI and use its capabilities for malicious purposes.

If we task AI with creating something, summarizing some material, and so on, it will do it in the same way as a computer. Therefore, it is not artificial intelligence itself [that is dangerous], but an immoral person who has dedicated himself not to saving people.
Gennady Onishchenko

He called for a more responsible approach to the use of technology to avoid negative consequences.

Earlier, the head of Rospotrebnadzor Anna Popova, expressed the opinion that AI can become a serious threat, as it can be used to create dangerous toxins that previously did not exist. She emphasized that technologies should be used for the benefit of humanity.
