The T-14 "Armata" tank demonstrated a maneuver at the "Tsentr-2026" strategic exercises for which high speed is especially important. In one episode, the vehicle emerged from cover, fired its 125-mm gun, and retreated without turning its hull.

This scenario uses one of the features of the T-14's transmission — the ability to move quickly in reverse. Earlier, "Pervyy Tekhnicheskiy" already wrote that a reversible transmission with eight forward and eight reverse gears was developed for the "Armata", and the stated reverse speed is estimated at 40–50 km/h.
The novelty of the current footage is different: it shows how such a design is used directly in a training combat episode. The tank can briefly emerge from cover to fire, and then return, keeping the hull oriented towards the simulated enemy. This allows not to waste time turning the vehicle after firing.
However, the assertion that the T-14 can move in reverse at the same speed as forward requires caution. In the original material, this possibility is derived from the tank's maximum forward speed, but this is not direct confirmation. The footage shown also does not allow determining the actual retreat speed.
