The first BATRAK brand truck was assembled in Ulan-Ude — the machine was assigned number 001. This is a new stage of the BaikalAutoTrak project, which was announced at the Eastern Economic Forum only in early September: then the first two machines were planned to be assembled by the end of the month — the promise was fulfilled.

The first version assembled was not electric, but diesel. According to Tivikom TV company, the two-axle tractor is equipped with a 13-liter diesel engine with a power of 480 hp and a robotic gearbox. The cabin features an electronic dashboard, a sleeping berth, and a 40-liter refrigerator.
Currently, BATRAK is assembled manually from approximately 1300 types of parts supplied from China. It takes about eight days for four specialists to assemble one vehicle. A representative of BaikalAutoTrak reported that the cabin and engine were modified to operate in Russian conditions, including for work at low temperatures.
It is important to understand: this is not factory assembly. The production site of 11 hectares in the TOR "Buryatia" is only being built, investments are estimated at 8.4 billion rubles, and the planned capacity by 2029 is up to 5 thousand trucks per year. The current machines are assembled in an experimental workshop: Tsydenov promises phased localization, with the involvement of Russian enterprises, including the production of electric motors and batteries.

The pilot batch should include three vehicles. The first two-axle tractor has already been assembled, another one of the same type and a three-axle machine are in progress. Two trucks are planned to be sent to Moscow to obtain vehicle type approval, and the third will be sent to a training center. Before passing the permitting procedures, it is too early to talk about full-scale serial production and free sales.
The project itself provides for the production of equipment with four power plant options: diesel, diesel-gas, gas, and electric. According to plans announced in September, the diesel version should cost from 7.5 million rubles, the gas version from 8.2 million, and the electric version from 12 million.
