Experts believe that the biggest opportunities for private AI companies in Russia are not in creating new chatbots or proprietary large language models. By 2030, the market accessible to independent players could exceed 561 billion rubles, with the largest niches forming in industry, business automation, and medicine.

Industrial AI ranks first with a potential of about 88 billion rubles. This refers to solutions for oil and gas, metallurgy, mining, and the chemical industry — where artificial intelligence can reduce downtime, defects, accidents, and raw material consumption.

Experts allocate another 78 billion rubles to AI agents and business process automation. The market is gradually shifting from ordinary assistants to systems capable of performing entire chains of operations — for example, taking over part of sales, support, or other routine work. Medical technologies can generate another 70 billion rubles.

At the same time, it is becoming increasingly difficult for independent developers to create their own fundamental models, clouds, and computing infrastructure: such projects require huge investments. Therefore, the main space for private business is shifting to applied products that solve a specific problem and provide a measurable economic effect.

But even here, growth may be limited by a lack of funds. According to Kama Flow, independent AI companies may annually underreceive about 84 billion rubles of necessary capital. In 2025, venture investments in Russian AI projects amounted to about 51 million dollars, while the largest technology corporations invested approximately 2.65 billion dollars.

As a result, for every dollar of venture funding, there are about 52 dollars of corporate investments. For comparison, in the global market, the ratio is approximately one to two. Therefore, the greatest potential for private AI in Russia is currently not associated with an attempt to build its own analogue of the largest neural networks, but with products that are deeply integrated into specific industries and business processes.
