A mere description of skills and work experience is no longer enough. Russian companies, amidst the spread of AI, have become more careful in checking what exactly a candidate can do and how they make decisions. According to a hh.ru study, almost 28% of surveyed employers have started asking applicants more often about the logic behind their decisions.

Another 23% of companies began to more thoroughly cross-reference information from resumes, interviews, and open sources. In 22% of cases, employers started asking questions that are harder to answer with artificial intelligence.

Companies also more often pay attention to the actual results of a candidate's work. 19% of respondents started checking specific cases and project details more frequently. The same number of employers are more closely monitoring applicants' behavior during online interviews.

In 17% of companies, candidates are asked to solve a task directly during the interview. This is done to assess their work in real-time. However, these changes have not affected all employers. 20% of companies reported that the spread of AI has not impacted their approach to candidate evaluation.

This is particularly noticeable in large organizations. Among companies with more than a thousand employees, 25% of representatives stated that they do not trust take-home assignments. The hh.ru study was conducted among 1.2 thousand employees of Russian companies who personally participated in the search, evaluation, or hiring of new employees from April to September 2026.
