The cost of Russian gas for China in 2026 may increase by 3% and reach 247.9 dollars per 1 thousand cubic meters. This is stated in the materials for the draft federal budget for 2027–2029, which TASS reviewed.

In 2025, the price was 240.3 dollars. According to the baseline forecast, in 2027 it will rise to 251.3 dollars — this is the peak for the entire period. Then a decrease is expected: to 247.8 dollars in 2028 and 246.4 in 2029. That is, by the end of the three-year period, the cost will return to the 2026 level.

The conservative forecast assumes more modest figures. In 2027, the price may be 239.2 dollars, in 2028 — 235.8, in 2029 — 234.7.

Russian pipeline gas remains in demand in the Chinese market. In 2025, Gazprom for the first time supplied more gas to China than to Europe: 38.8 billion cubic meters passed through the Power of Siberia gas pipeline — 800 million cubic meters above the initial contractual obligations.

In the first half of 2026, supplies via the Power of Siberia continued to grow against the backdrop of a reduction in China's total gas imports, primarily LNG.

The Power of Siberia is the largest gas transportation system in eastern Russia. The export capacity of the gas pipeline is 38 billion cubic meters per year. Supplies began in December 2019 under a 30-year contract between Gazprom and CNPC. The total volume over the entire period will exceed 1 trillion cubic meters, the contract amount is 400 billion dollars.
