Exports of liquefied petroleum gases (LPG) from Russia in January–June 2026 increased by 16% compared to the same period last year and reached 2.16 million tons. According to "Vedomosti" citing data from the research group "Petromarket", the growth is mainly due to reorientation to Asian markets.

Supplies to China in the first half of the year increased 2.3 times year-on-year – to 810.9 thousand tons. Exports to Central Asian countries (excluding Afghanistan) grew 1.9 times – to 497.8 thousand tons. As a result, the share of the European market in the total volume of Russian LPG supplies decreased to 2%. At the same time, in January–April, Europe's share was 15%, and Asia's was 85%.

The introduction of EU sanctions restricting the import of Russian LPG forced exporters to seek alternative sales markets. The key driver of growth was demand from China, which is also supported by global supply problems, including the situation in the Strait of Hormuz.
