The open burning in the production building of the Krasnozavodsk Chemical Plant (KHZ) in the Moscow region has been extinguished. One person died, and the whereabouts of five others remain unknown, TASS was told by emergency services. The fire started on the evening of October 1. No information has been received about the causes of the fire.
At the time of the incident, there were 44 people in the building, 40 were evacuated, said Alexey Luzhetsky, acting head of the Sergiev Posad district. Ambulance crews and the territorial disaster medicine center are on duty at the scene, and work in the dangerous zone is being carried out taking into account the threat of repeated explosions.
JSC "Krasnozavodsk Chemical Plant" is part of the Rostec State Corporation and is a city-forming enterprise for Krasnozavodsk. The enterprise specializes in signal and lighting equipment, aircraft protection systems, and anti-terrorist products under state orders for the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and other law enforcement agencies. In addition to defense products, it also produces cartridges for smoothbore shotguns and pyrotechnics.
