The Yaroslavl oil refinery "Slavneft-YANOS" is one of the largest enterprises in the industry in Russia. Its average processing volume is about 15 million tons of oil per year.

The enterprise produces motor fuels, aviation kerosene, oils, bitumens, and other petrochemical products.

On September 17, 2026, the plant sustained damage after a UAV attack. According to Yaroslavl Oblast Governor Mikhail Evraev, 65 drones were shot down in the region, and fires broke out at the refinery. He later reported that the fires had been completely extinguished.

How the Yaroslavl Oil Refinery Developed

The Novo-Yaroslavl oil refinery was commissioned in 1961. Over decades, the plant underwent several stages of modernization and increased its processing capacity to approximately 15 million tons of oil per year.

The enterprise operates catalytic reforming, catalytic cracking, hydrocracking, isomerization, and hydrotreating units. This allows for the production of more light petroleum products and fuels with higher environmental characteristics.

Since July 2012, YANOS has been producing K5 ecological class automotive gasoline and diesel fuel, complying with "Euro-5" requirements.

How Much Oil and Gasoline the Plant Processes

The average processing volume of YANOS is about 15 million tons of oil per year. In 2024, according to industry data, the enterprise processed about 14.9 million tons of crude oil.

In the same year, automotive gasoline production was estimated at approximately 2.6 million tons. In addition, the plant produced about 4 million tons of diesel fuel and 4.7 million tons of fuel oil.

At the same time, the enterprise continues its modernization. In 2025, YANOS planned to begin construction of a deep oil processing complex, after the implementation of which the processing depth is expected to reach almost 100% — 99.6%, and the yield of light petroleum products to increase to 75%.

What the Yaroslavl Oil Refinery Produces

The YANOS assortment includes over 40 types of products. The plant produces AI-92-K5, AI-95-K5, AI-98-K5, and AI-100-K5 gasolines, several seasonal variants of diesel fuel, TS-1 aviation kerosene, and jet engine fuel.

In addition to motor fuels, the enterprise produces a wide range of oils, bitumens, paraffin-wax products, aromatic hydrocarbons, liquefied gases, and fuel oil. A separate area is Group III base oils, used for the production of modern lubricants.
