The newest tamping-lining-levelling machine PMA-3 from "Kalugaputmash" has started operating at Andronovka station on the Moscow Railway. This was reported by the press service of the Sinara-Transport Machines (STM) holding company.
PMA-3 is a completely Russian-made machine, developed with the support of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade.
During trial operation, the PMA-3 will be used during technological "windows" (an interval during which train traffic is stopped on a specific section). The specialists are tasked with bringing approximately 20 km of railway track to standard condition.
The Russian Railways (OAO RZD) holding company announced a tender for the purchase of up to 5 tamping-lining-levelling machines under a future contract in 2024. STM will transfer a prototype to the holding company. After its characteristics are confirmed, serial production will begin.
The PMA-3 is designed for levelling, lining, tamping, and stabilizing railway tracks. The machine's productivity is 3300 sleepers per hour. The equipment was issued a TR TS 001/2011 certificate in July 2026, which is valid until 2031.
It is expected that PMA-3 will replace the Dynamic 09-3X tamping-lining-levelling machines, which were produced as part of a joint cooperation between Plasser&Theurer and Remputmash at Kalugaputmash facilities. High-tech components, hydraulic components, electronics, and measuring systems were supplied from Europe for this equipment. However, in 2022, the Austrian company stopped sending components to Kaluga.
