Alexander Legkiy, an engineer from Krasnodar, has developed and patented a system designed to generate electricity from the energy of the airflow supplied by a forced-draft fan to a burner unit. The device is installed in the pressure nozzle between the fan and the burner.

Inside the nozzle, the engineer proposed placing the main aerodynamic channel in the form of a double-sided funnel. First, the channel narrows, then the flow passes through the smallest cross-section with an installed air turbine, after which the channel expands and directs air to the burner unit. The turbine shaft is connected to the rotor of an asynchronous generator.

The main feature of the design is a bypass air channel with adjustable louver dampers located parallel to the main channel.

If the turbine needs to be stopped due to malfunction or repair, or if the air flow to the burner needs to be increased, the electric drive opens the louver dampers. The flow is directed into the bypass channel and passes to the burner unit, bypassing the turbine.

Legkiy also provided protection for the turbine blades: in one variant, they are made of alloy steel and coated with titanium carbide using ion implantation. According to the description of the utility model, the coating should increase the resistance of the blades to erosive and corrosive effects of moist and dusty airflow.

From the editors of "Pervy Tekhnichesky": the main technical requirement for such a scheme is to maintain the necessary air flow after installing the turbine. An air turbine extracts part of the flow energy and simultaneously creates additional aerodynamic resistance. Therefore, the economic effect cannot be evaluated solely by the generator's power: it is necessary to consider the additional load on the fan, the efficiency of the turbine and generator, as well as changes in air flow and pressure.

The published patent does not contain such calculations. The authors claim an increase in the energy efficiency of the system, but independent data on the actual electrical power of the installation and its total energy balance are not provided in the document.
