The Irkutsk Aviation Plant has already begun manufacturing the first parts for the shortened version of the MC-21-210. The first flight of the prototype aircraft is scheduled for August 2028, said Andrey Soynov, the company's general director.

According to the head of IAZ, the parts are already on the machines, and detailed work schedules have been developed for the aircraft's preparation.
Our task as a plant is to fly the aircraft in August 2028. And we will cope with this task. The first parts are already being manufactured, already on the machines. Detailed schedules have been developed. Therefore, I have no doubt that we will fly the aircraft by August 2028.
The shortened MC-21-210 is being created based on the MC-21-310.
Earlier, "Pervy Tekhnichesky" already reported on the contract between the Ministry of Industry and Trade and PAO Yakovlev for the development of this version, its estimated capacity of approximately 140–150 passengers, and plans to make the first flight before the end of 2028.
