The replacement of foreign-made cars with Russian-made cars in taxi fleets may take 3–3.5 years as the current fleet naturally wears out. This forecast was made by Pavel Berdnikov, a representative of the Public Council for Taxi Development in the Sverdlovsk Region.

According to him, the average monthly mileage of a taxi car is 10–12 thousand km, and the service life of the car is about four years.

Over time, the taxi market will shift towards professional participants, and concessions for self-employed individuals, according to Berdnikov, will not significantly affect the overall fleet structure.

Alexander Porubenko, Deputy Head of the Supervision Department of the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Sverdlovsk Region, stated that, indeed, due to high load, taxi cars exhaust their resource in 3-5 years. Therefore, in his opinion, legal entities, individual entrepreneurs, and self-employed individuals will have to change cars as their resource is depleted. And it would be logical to buy exactly those that are included in the list of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade, he concluded.

Since March 1, 2026, requirements for the localization of cars, information about which is entered into the regional register of passenger taxis, have been in force in Russia. The list of permitted includes 36 models, including brands Lada, Evolute, Sollers, Voyah. The requirements do not apply to cars whose information was entered into the regional registers of passenger taxis before March 1, 2026.
