Global arms exports in 2025 reached a record level for the period after the end of the Cold War, and Russia maintained its second place among the largest suppliers.

According to a new assessment by the Center for Analysis of World Arms Trade (TSAMTO), Russian exports amounted to about $15 billion, which corresponds to 12.55% of the global volume. The United States took first place with $44.603 billion and a share of 37.32%.
At the same time, the Russian figure has a special status in the ranking methodology. TSAMTO takes into account identified commercial contracts for the supply of arms, however, open statistics for Russia after 2022 are not available, so the figure of $15 billion represents an expert assessment by the center's analysts.
In the global market, at least $119.5 billion in exports and imports of conventional arms were identified during the year. TSAMTO calls this result the highest since the end of the Cold War. After the US and Russia, Germany ranked with $8.903 billion, South Korea with $8.779 billion, and France with $8.630 billion.
The gap between the two leaders remains significant: the American figure is almost three times higher than the Russian one. At the same time, Russia maintains its second position for the second year in a row — in the 2024 ranking, TSAMTO estimated its exports at $13.75 billion, or 12.32% of the global market.
