Utility fleet vessels have collected about 390 tons of garbage from Moscow's rivers since the start of the summer navigation season, which began in late April. This was announced by Deputy Mayor for Housing, Utilities and Amenities Pyotr Biryukov.
Utility vessels are engaged daily in collecting garbage from the water surface of the Moskva River and the navigable part of the Yauza, eliminating pollution, and removing silt sediment.
A large volume of waste is removed by garbage collector vessels, while in shallow areas, small vessels are used. When extracting bottom sediments of sand and soil, specialists use floating cranes and barges with tugs, he added.
According to Biryukov, the capital's utility fleet operates year-round. In winter, vessels capable of breaking ice up to 20 cm thick navigate the rivers. At the same time, the main part of the fleet is undergoing maintenance.
The GUP Mosvodostok is responsible for the cleanliness of the rivers in the capital. One of the enterprise's vessels is the MS-3 garbage collector (project 82180). It was built in 1999 at OAO Moscow Shipbuilding and Ship Repair Plant.

The garbage collector is equipped with an automated hydraulic bucket for collecting bottles, branches, leaves, as well as crane-manipulator units. All waste goes into an onboard container for subsequent unloading and disposal.
