AvtoVAZ showcased an unusual version of the SKM M9 minivan in Kazan — the car was transformed into a protected vehicle with an armored capsule and multi-layered glass. After structural reinforcement, its total weight exceeded 4 tons, and the preliminary price reached 16 million rubles.

The armored SKM M9 meets BR4 protection class. For additional passenger protection, the car was equipped with an armored capsule, multi-layered glazing, and an automatic fire suppression system.

However, the armor significantly changed the car itself. The weight of the special version increased by approximately 2 tons. The rear doors, instead of the standard sliding mechanism, were made hinged, and support rollers were added to reduce the load on the structure.

Another specialized version was also shown at the stand — the SKM M9 in an ambulance configuration. The interior featured retractable stretchers, medical equipment, and an additional folding seat for medical personnel.

Both vehicles were manufactured by AvtoVAZ's partner — Promtekh company.
