Rostelecom recorded two damages to main fiber-optic communication lines in the Far East on September 19, RIA Novosti reported, citing the company.

At 3:00 PM local time in Sakhalin Oblast, a support was cut down, causing a break in the Kholmsk — Tomari line.

Around 5:00 PM, an accident was recorded on the Selikhino — Yagodny section in Khabarovsk Krai: the cable was cut in several places.

A brief decrease in internet quality affected Magadan and Sakhalin Oblasts, Kamchatka Krai, and parts of Khabarovsk Krai and Chukotka.

Emergency crews were dispatched to the sites, backup channels were activated, and normal communication was restored within an hour.

The Ministry of Digital Development stated that the cause of the fixed internet outages was intentional damage to the fiber-optic communication line. Voting continues as usual.
