Russian kamikaze drones "Molniya" are now virtually invulnerable to air defense systems thanks to the new "Mask" function in their firmware, which became known back in August. "Izvestia" revealed new details about the system's operation.

Thanks to this mode, the enemy simply does not see where the device is located, even when trying to intercept the video signal. They cannot determine either the takeoff point or the route from the intercepted signal.

The pilot switches off this mode directly over the target, when 10–20 seconds remain until impact — this is too little time to make a decision and initiate an interception.

Guiding an interceptor, relying solely on visual detection by posts, takes too much time.

Before this, after abandoning Starlink satellite communication terminals, "Molniya" drones switched to using mesh-modems with an operating range of 1300–1500 MHz and 5 W power channels. The built-in autopilot mode on "Molniya" drones allows them to continue flying and perform their mission  even when attempts are made to jam communication
