Strategic missile carriers Tu-160 and Tu-95MS are armed with up to 200 Kh-102 and Kh-55SM missiles in nuclear configuration. Such estimates are provided in foreign specialized studies, reported the publication "Tekhnosfera Rossiya".
This information has not been officially confirmed; the exact number of nuclear warheads is classified.
It is known about the Kh-102 that it is the main and most modern weapon of Russian long-range aviation today. This is a strategic cruise missile with stealth technology.
Its flight range exceeds 5500 km, and according to some estimates, even more than 6500 km. This allows these "strategists" to launch without entering the enemy's air defense zone at all. The warhead is thermonuclear, with a yield of 250 kt to 1 Mt.
Kh-55SM cruise missiles fly up to 3500 km with a warhead yield of up to 200 kt.
Recall that the "White Swan" can carry up to 12 such missiles in its internal compartments. The modernized "Bear" carries up to 8 missiles on external pylons.
Earlier, it became known how many Tu-160, Tu-95, and Tu-22M3 missile carriers in various modifications are in service with the Russian Aerospace Forces.
