"Baikal Electronics", a Russian developer of integrated circuits and systems-on-chip, has launched an AI assistant on its technical documentation and SDK portal for the Baikal-U (BE-U1000) microcontroller.

The assistant unifies search across the entire array of technical materials, including reference manuals, register descriptions, SDK guides, code examples, and other documents. Users can ask questions in natural language, for example, about configuring a PWM timer to control an electric motor or the operating modes of a DMA controller, after which the system searches for relevant information throughout the documentation.
If the necessary information is available in the documents, the assistant generates an answer and indicates the sections where the information is located. Thus, the user does not need to independently search for the required material or know the exact block name and query phrasing.
According to the company, the tool allows for faster answers to typical technical questions. The assistant operates 24/7 and can be used by both novice developers and experienced engineers. It is also expected to handle some technical support inquiries, leaving more complex tasks to specialists.
The launch of the AI assistant is a continuation of "Baikal Electronics"' work to provide open access to Baikal-U documentation for developers, engineers, and students. According to Andrey Evdokimov, the company's CEO, the new tool should simplify work with documentation, accelerate the development of devices based on Baikal-U, and expand the ecosystem of solutions around the microcontroller.
AI assistants for working with technical documentation are also appearing in other Russian products. For example, "Group Astra" launched such a tool on the Astra Automation documentation portal. SberTech has similar functionalities implemented in several Platform V products — Distributed DB, Radish, and DataSpace.
