On the night of September 7, 12 Su-34 bombers took to the air as part of a massive combat sortie. Military expert Yuri Knutov explained that group bombing carries an enormous advantage.
According to monitoring resources, a group of 12 combat aircraft first took off, and later another 3 joined them. Knutov reminded that the FAB-500 can hit targets at a distance of up to 200 km.
If you compare them with ballistic or cruise missiles, "Iskander" — they are expensive, and their warhead is 450 kg. The FAB-500 has 500 kg, which means it's more powerful, not to mention the FAB-1000 or FAB-3000. A massive bomb strike by Su-34 causes much heavier destruction to fortifications.
Recall that the military began using modernized aerial bombs with UMPK, capable of hitting targets at a distance of up to 200 km. Previously, such munitions covered up to 80 km, but now their range has increased significantly.
The aerial bombs received reinforced attachment systems, longer wings providing increased range, and new control technologies. The carriers of the shells include Su-35S and Su-57 fighters.
