The large anti-submarine ship (BPK) "Admiral Levchenko" of Project 1155 "Fregat" completed the task of escorting a convoy through the Great Belt Strait towards the North Sea, reported Evgeny Damantsev, author of the Telegram channel "Russkoye Oruzhiye". The convoy consisted of the tanker "General Skobelev" and the dry cargo ship "Sparta".

As Damantsev noted, despite their considerable age, Project 1155 BPKs remain among the most effective tools for anti-submarine warfare (ASW) in the far sea zone. The MG-355 "Polynom" sonar complex allows detecting underwater targets in the first and second far zones. The URC-5 "Rastrub-B" anti-submarine missile and torpedo system is capable of hitting submarines at distances of up to 50–90 km, and the ship's air defense is provided by eight modules of the "Kinjal" SAM system and AK-100 artillery mounts.

Escorting "Sparta"-type vessels in the current geopolitical situation requires highly specialized platforms capable of countering both underwater threats and attempts at electronic suppression by NATO electronic intelligence assets.
