Foreign analysts have noted the appearance of T-80UD tanks, which had previously been in storage for a long time, in the production circuit of OmskTansmash. According to their data, this could involve at least 13 vehicles that arrived from the 61st Armored Repair Plant, and the total remaining fleet there was estimated at approximately 73 tanks.

The very fact that the T-80UD is returning to the list of vehicles of interest to OmskTansmash is noteworthy due to the design of this version. The tank is equipped with a 1000 hp 6TD-1 diesel engine instead of the gas turbine unit of the T-80U family.
In terms of its capabilities, the T-80UD is close to the T-80U, but differs in its power plant and a number of equipment. The vehicle was equipped with a 125-mm 2A46M-1 gun, an automatic loader for 28 rounds, a 1A45 Irtysh fire control system, and a 1G46 day/night sight. The 6TD-1 diesel develops 1000 hp, and the cruising range with internal fuel reserves is estimated at approximately 560 km.
Against this background, the question of the future fate of the received tanks is of particular interest. Foreign experts link their appearance in Omsk with the ongoing modernization of the T-80 family and suggest that some of the vehicles may undergo deeper processing.
Earlier, OmskTansmash had already shown the T-80UE-1 – a variant combining the T-80BV chassis with the T-80UD turret; in 2026, this vehicle received Relikt explosive reactive armor instead of Kontakt-5.
However, it is too early to assert that all delivered T-80UDs will be restored in their original form. Foreign experts note the very fact of the vehicles' movement and link it to OmskTansmash, but the specific modernization program for each hull has not been publicly disclosed.
