Almost 200 km between the operator and the target turns the use of "Lancet" into a task not so much about flight range, but about organizing a stable control channel. After the already known episode with the use of ammunition against the IRIS-T SLM complex, the authors of the Telegram channel "Russkoye Oruzhiye" (Russian Weapon) drew attention specifically to this technical aspect of the event.

The key problem arises due to the radio horizon. At a distance of about 196 km, the device can no longer rely on conventional direct radio communication with the ground control station: the curvature of the Earth and the terrain limit direct line of sight. Therefore, if the specified distance corresponds to the actual route of the "Lancet", increased transmitter power alone is not enough - an additional element of the communication chain must exist between the drone and the operator.
According to the authors of "Russkoye Oruzhiye", one of the solutions could be multi-level signal retransmission. In such a scheme, the drone communicates not directly with the remote operator, but through intermediate aerial nodes that transmit control commands and telemetry further. This allows compensating for the lack of direct radio visibility and expanding the operating area of the complex without a proportional increase in the power of the onboard equipment.
A separate question is related to the presumed launch point. The channel's authors suggest that the launcher could have been on a mobile surface platform, and consider the high-speed landing craft of project 02510 BK-16 as a possible carrier. Such a scheme would make it possible to move the starting position far from the shore and at the same time bring it closer to the area of intended use. However, this version remains an analytical assumption and has not yet been officially confirmed.
If such an architecture was indeed used, then almost 200 km becomes an indicator not of the "Lancet" alone, but of the entire system around it. The drone must receive a route, maintain a communication channel, transmit telemetry to the operator, and ensure the operation of guidance systems throughout the flight.
