The new Russian ballistic missile 9M723-2, referred to as "Iskander-1000" in open sources, may use an unusually high flight trajectory. The features of the new munition were revealed by "Rossiyskaya Gazeta".

According to the data provided, the missile is capable of climbing to approximately 120-130 km – 20-30 km above the Karman line. At such an altitude, the atmospheric density sharply decreases, so air resistance becomes significantly less.
After acceleration, the missile continues to move along a quasi-ballistic trajectory. In the high-altitude section, the 9M723-2 can accelerate to 3100 m/s, or approximately 11,160 km/h.
Analysts from "Voennaya Khronika" added that the design of the "Iskander-1000" missile allows it to perform maneuvers with overloads of up to 25-30 g. From this, it follows that mechanical interception of the warhead is practically impossible.
Military expert Evgeny Damantsev explained that the 9M723-2 is capable of carrying high-explosive fragmentation or cluster munitions weighing up to 300–350 kg. In the West, it was noted that the missile's circular error probable does not exceed five meters.
