Russian lunar rovers will be able to move significantly away from the landing platform – a research radius of 50 to 100 km is currently being discussed. They will operate at both poles simultaneously: two small landing vehicles will be sent there first. Denis Kutovoy, Deputy Director of the Space Systems Department of Roscosmos, spoke about the plans for the Russian lunar program.

As part of the "Luna-27" mission No. 1 and No. 2, two small-class landing vehicles are planned to be sent to the Moon's North and South Poles. After this, specialists must determine which pole is better suited for further work.
Then, a universal heavy landing platform with two lunar rovers should be sent to the chosen location. These will explore the surface at a distance of approximately 50–100 km. According to Kutovoy, these figures are currently under discussion.
All landing vehicles of the Russian lunar program are equipped with thermal units and radioisotope thermoelectric generators.
In parallel, Roscosmos is working in another direction – space nuclear energy and the creation of a lunar power plant with a nuclear power unit. The launch of a vehicle with a payload from nuclear industry specialists is also planned before the end of the program period.
