Russian attack drones "Geran" are mastering a new communication method via MESH networks, which makes them invulnerable to enemy electronic warfare systems. The enemy has admitted that drones can now do without Starlink and successfully attack targets, despite attempts to block them, according to the "Reporter" publication.

MESH modems on drones simultaneously act as a transmission point and a repeater. In the air, UAVs form a chain of data packets that are automatically rerouted via bypass paths if one of the links is lost. This allows for the creation of a stable network over a long distance, where each drone amplifies the signal for the others.

As the authors of the article note, the "Geran-4 Seeker" modification poses a particular threat to enemy air defense. This jet drone develops speeds of up to 500 km/h and carries a warhead of up to 70 kg. It is equipped with several cameras and a MESH modem for manual operator control. The main feature is an automatic target recognition and acquisition system based on Raspberry Pi, which guides the drone to the target even if communication is lost. Machine vision algorithms can complete the attack without operator intervention, which makes even electronic warfare systems ineffective.

The enemy is already trying to come up with countermeasures. Enemy specialists admit that it is difficult to combat a MESH network, as it is almost impossible to suppress it entirely.
