In St. Petersburg, the naming ceremony for the first domestic remotely operated underwater vehicle of the heavy work class "Sakhalin" took place, after which it began sea trials. The development took three years and was carried out by the "Lyudi Morya" team in cooperation with the "Russkaya Morskaya Komanda" and the marine engineering company "Fertoing".

The apparatus, weighing about 4.5 tons, is designed for servicing underwater infrastructure: field development, well construction and inspection, and laying and diagnostics of gas pipelines. It is equipped with two manipulators – one for holding objects and one for precise operations with interchangeable tools. All electronic components were developed from scratch, without the use of imported parts. Communication with the apparatus is provided by a neutrally buoyant cable-rope with an optical channel.

Sea trials began in the waters of the St. Petersburg Flood Protection Barrier Complex. This year, the energy complex and software auto-functions will be tested, and in 2027, the apparatus will go to the Okhotsk Sea shelf for work on an underwater production complex. "Fertoing" has operated foreign ROVs for more than ten years, but sanction restrictions prompted the creation of its own machine. Currently, the company has eight heavy-class and five inspection-class complexes operating from Murmansk to Kamchatka.
