From September 1st, the order of the Ministry of Education, which prohibits the use of mobile phones during lessons, comes into force. The document amends the procedure for organizing educational activities. Students are obliged not to use gadgets during classes. Exceptions are emergency cases or threats to life and health.

As explained by Minister of Education Sergey Kravtsov, each school regulates the use of gadgets during breaks separately. Educational organizations must also equip storage areas for phones – cells, lockers, or boxes at the entrance to the classroom.

Previously, the ban on smartphones in lessons was enshrined in the federal law "On Education". The order of the Ministry of Education translates the general norm to the level of departmental requirements. For parents, this means that it will not be possible to contact a child during a lesson by phone – in emergency cases, only through the school number or the class teacher.
