The first Russian-developed corporate Wi-Fi 7 access point, Eltex WEP-550K, has been tested in the K2Tech laboratory. A smartphone showed a real speed of up to 2 Gbps, and MLO technology increased throughput by 65%. Experts tested the equipment in scenarios close to corporate network operations, evaluating not only peak speed but also Wi-Fi stability under high load and interference.

Impact of Wi-Fi 7 on Corporate Networks

According to the authors of the study, one of the main innovations is the additional frequency resource in the 6 GHz band. Moreover, the WPA3 security protocol is mandatory in this band.

Another key technology is MLO. It allows simultaneous data transmission over multiple channels in different radio bands. This can significantly increase the real network throughput.

During the laboratory test, data was simultaneously transmitted in the 2.4, 5, and 6 GHz bands. MLO provided a 65% increase in throughput compared to single-band transmission under the same conditions.

Smartphone showed 2 Gbps connection speed, but there are nuances

During the Eltex WEP-550K tests, the real speed on a smartphone reached 2 Gbps. However, this indicator was only achieved under ideal conditions.

The tests also confirmed the effectiveness of MLO and the 6 GHz band. At the same time, specialists noted areas that still require refinement: for example, centralized MLO management and more flexible channel configuration.

According to Viktor Belyaev, a wireless technology expert at K2Tech, this is a matter of months, not years. Corporate networks will transition to Wi-Fi 7 gradually. This will require updating not only client devices but also the wired infrastructure, including equipment supporting 2.5/5G speeds at the access level.
