On Sakhalin, an An-3 aircraft made an emergency landing in a field between the villages of Kirovskoye and Zonalnoye. At an altitude of about 800 meters, the aircraft's engine failed due to a technical malfunction, according to the Ministry of Emergency Situations. The pilot had to land the aircraft in a field.

12 specialists and three units of fire and rescue equipment are working at the scene. There are no casualties. The Sakhalin Transport Prosecutor's Office has launched an investigation into compliance with flight safety legislation. Investigators are establishing the causes of the technical malfunction and evaluating the crew's actions.

The An-3 is a modernized version of the legendary "corn-duster" An-2 with a TVD-20 turboprop engine with 1375 hp instead of a piston engine. The engine replacement allowed for increased speed and payload, but the operational history of this type includes several cases of engine failure in flight. In October 2024, in Yakutia, the cause of a hard landing of an An-3 was named as engine thrust loss, which resulted in one fatality. In 2007, in the Irkutsk region, an An-3's engine failed at an altitude of 3 thousand meters – the pilots managed to land the aircraft on a forest clearing, and no one was injured.
