At least 10 people were injured in the hard landing of an An-2 aircraft with passengers on board in the Chita district of the Trans-Baikal Territory. According to preliminary information, two are in serious condition, there are no fatalities.
The regional Ministry of Emergency Situations clarified that the plane landed in the area of the "Topograph" horticultural society 16 minutes after takeoff. The aircraft belongs to the DOSAAF. There were 1 crew member and 10 parachutists on board.
There was no fire on the plane as a result of the landing. 37 people and 12 pieces of equipment are working at the scene, including 13 people and 4 pieces of equipment from the Ministry of Emergency Situations.
The East Siberian Transport Prosecutor's Office clarified that the cause of the An-2's hard landing was engine failure.
Currently, Russia isworking on a new LMS-901 "Baikal" aircraft, which will replace the An-2 on regional airlines.
