Concern "Radioelectronic Technologies" (KRET, part of Rostec) has begun installing electrostatic precipitators at three coal-fired boiler houses in Ulan-Ude. The equipment is individually adapted for each facility, taking into account its configuration.

Electrostatic precipitators capture up to 97.7% of dust and ash in flue gases. In combination with existing systems, the overall cleaning efficiency reaches 99%. In addition, the units reduce carbon monoxide concentration by 14.2% and sulfur dioxide by 38.5%.

The throughput of one filter is up to 20 thousand cubic meters of gases per hour. The service life of the products exceeds 10 years.

Similar solutions are already operating at two boiler houses in Ulan-Ude. Thanks to them, ash emissions into the atmosphere have decreased by more than 16 tons per year. As noted by Rostec, for regions where coal remains an important part of municipal energy, KRET electrostatic precipitators offer an opportunity to reduce the environmental burden without rebuilding the existing heating system.

The development was awarded the V.A. Revunov Prize in 2022 and may be useful in other Russian cities as well.
