Pavel Durov's (listed as a terrorist and extremist by Rosfinmonitoring) VKontakte page featured its first posts in eight years, which he deleted 20 minutes later.

First, Durov twice published the identical message "Original text before editing," then a third post appeared – "Text that should survive deletion." Approximately 20 minutes later, all new entries disappeared. Before this, the last post on the entrepreneur's page was dated May 8, 2018, and was related to the first blocking of Telegram in Russia.

In 2026, a criminal case was initiated against Durov for aiding terrorist activities; on July 29, he was charged in absentia and placed on an international wanted list, and on July 30, Rosfinmonitoring added him to the list of terrorists and extremists. Earlier, the businessman changed his Telegram avatar to a meme of himself as a terrorist. He did not explain the meaning of the posts.

On August 10, 2026, VKontakte's user agreement changed.
