Two new electrostatic precipitators have been put into operation at Krasnoyarsk CHPP-1: now the station operates 13 out of 15 planned gas treatment plants.

Each electrostatic precipitator traps more than 99% of dust: under the influence of an electric field, particles settle on plates inside the unit and are collected in bunkers. After the launch of all 15 units, dust emissions will be reduced by 80%, the total volume of emissions from the station — by 20%. The last two filters are planned to be introduced in June, the complete completion of the modernization — in the second half of 2026.

The renovation has been underway since 2018 as part of the federal project "Clean Air". The total amount of SGC's investments in modernization is 22 billion rubles. In addition to electrostatic precipitators, a new 275-meter-high chimney was erected at the station — it replaced the three previous ones with a height of 105 to 120 meters.

In parallel, the generating equipment is being updated at CHPP-1: two new boiler units have been put into operation, and two turbines of 35 MW each are being installed. All new equipment is of domestic production: the boilers are manufactured at the Podolsk Machine-Building Plant, the turbines are manufactured at the Kaluga Turbine Plant, and the generators are manufactured at the Novosibirsk "Elsib".

CHPP-1 supplies heat and electricity to a third of Krasnoyarsk, operating since 1943. The modernization was carried out without stopping production.

The Krasnoyarsk Territory leads the ranking of Russian regions in terms of the volume of harmful emissions into the atmosphere. The situation in Krasnoyarsk is aggravated by the relief: almost half of the days of the year in the city are calm, when emissions from industrial enterprises and coal-fired power plants do not dissipate and remain in the surface layer.
