Russians who plan to buy a car or have already done so most often consider the period from April to June as the best time for a deal. This season was named the most suitable by 24% of participants in a study by "Avito Reklama" and "Avito Avto". More than 10 thousand Russian residents aged 18 to 65 took part in the survey.
A total of 65% of respondents who are going to buy a car or have recently purchased one named several periods as the most successful for buying. In addition to spring, 11% of respondents chose August and September.
The main reason Russians chose the spring period was the weather – this option was indicated by 31% of study participants. Another 24% believe that more interesting offers appear at this time, and 22% pay attention to discounts and special conditions. For 14%, the ability to sell their old car more easily is important.
According to the platform, there are indeed more options in the used car market in spring. April and May account for an average of 8% of all listings for the year. In early summer, the figure increases to 9–10% and remains at approximately this level until October–November.
When choosing a car, Russians primarily look at its technical condition, year of manufacture, and mileage – this answer was given by 62% of survey participants.
Buyers also consider:
- car price (59%);
- make, model, and trim (52%);
- cost of ownership (39%);
- seller reliability (27%);
- reviews and model reputation (22%).
The liquidity of the car for future resale is important for 14% of respondents.
