The Moscow Exchange intends to attract Russian video game developers to the stock market, Kommersant reports, citing a statement by Natalia Loginova, head of the issuer relations department. According to her, the exchange is already cooperating with the video game association, and several companies are interested in exchange financing.
In Russia, according to Loginova, there are more than 150 companies involved in game development. They are marginal and, as international experience shows, can successfully raise funds through the exchange. For comparison, about 100 game studios are traded on the Warsaw Stock Exchange, 50 on NASDAQ Stockholm, and about 30 on American exchanges.
MOEX plans to create a specialized video game council in the “Innovation and Investment Market” sector. Currently, the exchange is looking for companies ready to become the first issuers. This could open a new financing channel for the industry, which has been actively growing in recent years but faces limited access to loans and investments.
It is expected that pilot placements could take place as early as 2027. For game studios, going public is a way to attract funds without losing control, especially through stock placements. In turn, the exchange gains a promising sector with high profitability and growth potential. It is not yet clear which companies will be the first, but there is already interest from the industry.
