More than 10 thousand parts per year can be processed by the new turning cell at the Demikhovsky Machine-Building Plant. Two modern CNC machines have already been installed at the enterprise, which produces Russian EP2DM and EP3D electric trains, as well as other passenger railway equipment.
The new equipment appeared in the wheelset manufacturing and repair shop No. 1 as part of Transmashholding's investment program. The machines will produce parts for both new electric trains and wagons sent for major overhaul.
The Demikhovsky Plant is one of the key Russian manufacturers of suburban electric trains. The enterprise produces, in particular, EP2DM and EP3D, and since 2025, it has also participated in the production of the new DP2D diesel train.
The new cell will be able to perform several operations at once: turning, milling, drilling, and threading. Among the products are rods, suspension shafts, bushings, fasteners, and other wagon components.
The main change is that sequential processing of a part can be performed in a single setup. Previously, after a turning operation, if necessary, the workpiece had to be transported to another shop for milling or other operations.
One of the new machines is capable of processing a part with re-clamping without stopping the technological process. The second received an additional axis, which allows milling grooves and planes on cylindrical surfaces.
Both centers are equipped with automatic bar stock feeding. Previously, the operator had to perform this operation manually.
