The removal of Russian applications from the App Store is already affecting users' attitudes towards Apple. According to VTsIOM, 50% of Russian smartphone owners reported a decrease in trust in the company, and 51% would rather not consider an iPhone when buying a new device.

Another 45% of respondents believe that restrictions could push users to switch to Android. iPhone owners react to the situation much more sharply: 56% expressed concern compared to 29% among Android users, and 69% and 37% respectively called the restrictions tangible.

More than half of iPhone owners (52%) admitted that using their smartphone has become less convenient. Among Android users, 25% reported a negative impact of the restrictions. VTsIOM conducted the survey at the end of July among 1628 adult internet users; a separate sample of 794 iPhone owners was formed.

In 2026, a whole range of Russian services disappeared from the App Store, including the Max messenger, VK applications, and Yandex Pay. Earlier, removals also affected Google Play. Russian authorities reacted to the situation: the FAS issued a warning to Apple and threatened a fine of up to 4 billion rubles.

The scale of removals has sharply increased. According to Apple's report, 1213 applications were removed from the Russian App Store in 2025, compared to 171 a year earlier. In 2023, there were 12 such applications, and in 2022 — seven.
