Russian tanks are intended to be used not only as fire vehicles but also as mobile platforms for launching attack and reconnaissance FPV drones. This conclusion was reached by Military Watch Magazine after studying the development of Russian tactics for drone deployment.

The idea changes the traditional role of the tank on the battlefield. The vehicle gains the ability to deliver FPV drones directly to the area of application and launch them without the need to expose the crew from the protected armored capsule. According to MWM, this solution will allow the tank to be used as a protected mobile launch point for several types of drones.

In essence, this is about bringing the tank and the unmanned system closer together in a single combat complex. The tank retains its armor, gun, and mobility, while the FPV drone expands its capabilities for detecting and engaging targets. This scheme is especially important in conditions where large armored vehicles themselves have become a prominent target for small drones.

MWM views this as another stage in the adaptation of armored vehicles to warfare in which FPV drones have become widespread. Previously, the main response to the threat to tanks was protective screens, electronic warfare systems, and other anti-drone systems. Now the armored vehicle itself can become a carrier for its own drones.
