The "Rosel" holding of the Rostec State Corporation has delivered the first batch of "Vulkan" magnetic contact sensors to the customer. The devices are designed for high-pressure steam pipelines and can be used in automation and alarm systems of nuclear power plants.

The sensors are installed inside gate valves and used to monitor their closure. They operate at temperatures up to 350 degrees, withstand mechanical shock with an acceleration of 150g, and remain operational even during the maximum design earthquake.

The "Vulkan" does not require external power to operate. The reed switch design is more compact than traditional Hall sensors, and its resource reaches up to 5 billion operations.

The stainless steel casing allows the device to serve for up to 12 years. Rosel reported that the sensors are already being used by one of the major Russian manufacturers of pipeline fittings for the oil and gas, nuclear, energy, and railway industries.

Reed sensors are also used in household appliances, cars, medicine, telecommunications, and security systems – mainly as contact elements of switches.
