MEPhI graduate Pyotr Martyuk created the world's first aerostat for pie delivery, "Pervy Tekhnichesky" was informed by the university's press service. The device has already passed tests and is expected to start operating in Moscow from mid-August.

The idea was born after the closure of Martyuk's previous project – the "Balkany" cafe, which operated on the balcony of his fifth-floor apartment. Orders were taken via SMS, and food was lowered in a basket on a rope into the courtyard. The establishment lasted about a month and closed due to neighbors' complaints about noise and crowds under the windows. Then the entrepreneur decided to relaunch the project in a new format – with aerostat delivery.

For calculations of the balloon's parameters, Martyuk turned to Alexey Egorov, a senior lecturer at the Department of Applied Mathematics at MEPhI. To lift a pie, a box, and a basket, a balloon with a diameter of 90 cm, filled with gas lighter than air, is required.

Pyotr Martyuk graduated from MEPhI with a degree in "Solid State Physics." Instead of postgraduate studies, he went to a creative agency and now develops strategies for brands.
