Russian "Black Kite" drones have received an autonomous navigation system that allows them to fly along a predetermined route without communication with the operator, telemetry, or satellite signal. The new technology was developed by the Dronax company.
After the update, UAVs can independently move to a given point, deliver cargo, and return to base even with a complete loss of external control channels.
The company reported that the new system has passed tests and is already being used on "Black Kite" series drones in the Russian army.
Autonomous navigation is designed to operate in conditions of active interference, where communication channels or satellite positioning systems may be unavailable. The solution is also suitable for complex terrain, including mountainous areas, wooded terrain, and dense urban development, where satellite signals may be unstable.
The developers did not disclose the technical parameters of the navigation complex but noted that the system allows the drone to maintain a given route without constant data exchange with the operator.
