The world's first unmanned combat vessel will be built for the Russian Navy. Its weight is 500 tons, said Commander-in-Chief Alexander Moiseev.
According to him, the ship will be sent to search for submarines and other objects. This project has been included in the current state armament program.
It is being built, it will be the first such ship. It will become the basis for the further development of unmanned systems.
It should be noted that controlling a 500-ton combat ship remotely in conditions of electronic countermeasures is extremely difficult. This will require advanced artificial intelligence systems for autonomous maneuvering.
Also, on a conventional ship, the crew deals with fires and hull breaches. On an autonomous vessel, all these processes must be fully robotic.
Military expert Sergey Marzhetsky warned that the Russian fleet needs a developed global satellite system for naval reconnaissance.
Western media already rank the Russian Navy among the three most powerful in the world.
