The development of the promising MiG-41 interceptor may be jeopardized if the design team of the A.I. Mikoyan Design Bureau is reduced. Nikolay Chikunov, a Category I design engineer at the Design Bureau, told "Pervyy Tekhnicheskiy" about this.
According to him, creating an aircraft of this class requires a full-fledged design school capable of independently designing a promising aviation complex.
To make it, you need a design bureau at least as large as Sukhoi's. Well, if smaller, then at least not five or six times smaller.
Chikunov believes that further staff reductions could lead to a situation where the development of a promising interceptor would be impossible within the framework of the remaining competencies.
According to the engineer, the MiG-41 cannot be considered a simple modification of an existing aircraft. It must be the result of a separate design effort requiring significant engineering resources.
If these plans are implemented, the MiG-41 will definitely not exist.
Earlier, Chikunov pointed out that the MiG Design Bureau could lose up to 50% of its design staff if it merges with the Sukhoi bureau into a single tactical aviation unit.
