The fleet of the Maykop Trolleybus Department has been replenished with nine SIMAZ 2258-538 medium-class city buses, operating on compressed natural gas. As reported by the government of Adygea, the equipment was acquired within the framework of the national project "Infrastructure for Life"; the total cost of the batch amounted to 97.2 million rubles on co-financing terms from budgets of all levels. The vehicles will enter service in the third quarter of 2026.

Each bus accommodates up to 54 passengers and is equipped with a 155 hp engine with 579 Nm of torque, a six-speed FAST GEAR manual transmission, and DANA axles. The rear air suspension and a low-floor accumulation area in the rear overhang ensure accessibility for passengers with reduced mobility; a folding ramp and a space for a wheelchair are provided. The cabin is equipped with anti-vandal seats, USB ports for charging gadgets, air conditioning, four cabin heaters, and a pre-heater. The driver's cabin is separated by a partition, and a pneumatic suspension seat, LED optics, and electrically adjustable and heated mirrors are installed.

The new buses will operate on existing trolleybus routes No. 2, 6, and 10; the resumption of the previously closed route No. 17 is also being considered. Earlier, the region had already received 60 new buses, and an application for a subsidy to acquire another 15 vehicles has been sent to the federal center. The use of methane technology in conditions of continuing instability in the fuel market allows for significant savings on refueling and reduces the burden on the municipal budget.
