The Russian warship "Neustrashimy" of Project 11540 "Yastreb" conducted firing exercises on July 20, 40 nautical miles (about 74 km) from the British city of Plymouth. The maneuvers were carried out in international waters, BBC News reports.

Before the start of the firing, the "Neustrashimy" warned the British Navy patrol ship HMS Tyne of its intention to conduct firing and urged it to move to a safe distance.

The firing of the "Neustrashimy" was also monitored by a French military aircraft. Its crew established radio contact with the frigate and asked the Russian sailors to further clarify their intentions.

The Baltic Fleet frigate recently arrived in the region. It replaced the "Admiral Grigorovich", which had been performing tasks of escorting tankers through the English Channel for several months.

The "Neustrashimy" is armed with "Kinzhal" missiles, an AK-100 artillery mount, "Kortik" and 533-mm torpedoes. A Ka-27 deck helicopter is also based on board.
