Russian Navy ship participated in the South African Navy festival

The "Neustrashimy" frigate of the Baltic Fleet has arrived in Simon's Town, the main naval base of South Africa on the Atlantic coast. The South African Navy festival took place in its waters, according to the Russian Consulate General in Cape Town.

According to a representative of the consulate, the crew of the "Neustrashimy" participated in the naval parade. On the afternoon of October 5, it was opened to the public. The frigate was inspected by the commander of the South African Navy, Monde Lobese.

The festival was held for the first time in the last 5 years. A Chinese warship also arrived in Simon's Town to participate in the parade.

The "Neustrashimy" is the lead ship of Project 11540 "Yastreb". It is designed to search and destroy enemy submarines, to provide anti-ship and anti-submarine defense of warships, and to support the landing of ground troops on the shore.

Its construction began in the spring of 1986, and the ship was commissioned in 1993. Home port is Baltiysk.
